POST-EXTRACTION INSTRUCTIONS

Dental Surgery, Useful Instructions
  1. DO NOT eat or drink anything hot for the entire day.
Your food should be soft, to avoid injuring the extraction site. Avoid dairy products on the first day.
  2. Be especially careful during the first few hours after the extraction.
Do not lift heavy objects and avoid bending over.
  3. Do not touch or disturb the wound with your finger, tongue, toothpick, or any other object.
  4. Bite down on a gauze pad for at least an hour and a half after the extraction.
    This helps stop the bleeding.

    • If bleeding continues, replace it with a new gauze pad and bite down for another 30 minutes.
    • Keep in mind that even a small amount of blood can turn your saliva red. Do not panic unnecessarily!
  5. Do not rinse your mouth on the first day after the extraction.
    • In the following days, rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash (e.g., EluPERIO 0.12%) or saltwater.
  6. If you experience pain after the extraction, take the prescribed painkillers, such as:
    • Depon, Ponstan, Mesulid, or any other medication recommended to you.
    • DO NOT take aspirin or any aspirin-based medication (e.g., Apyr, Salospir, Sarmine, Upsalgin-N, Algon, Egicalm) as they increase the risk of bleeding.
  7. If swelling occurs, apply an ice pack externally for 15 minutes, then remove it for 15 minutes before reapplying.
    • This will help prevent excessive swelling.
  8. After the extraction, avoid smoking, sucking on the wound, or spitting.
